Compass has handed over the Middle East’s first Weslodge Saloon, a $4.62m (AED17m) restaurant project situated on the 68th floor of the JW Marriot Marquis in Dubai, UAE.
After being appointed by client Icon Arabia in Q3 2015, the Dubai-based project management firm assigned partner Williams Hitch and project manager Chris Hunter to oversee the job.
Construction work began in Q4 2015 and completed on schedule before the end of Q1 2016.
Commenting on the restaurant project, Hitch said: “The first overseas brand of Weslodge proved an incredibly challenging build, from around-the-globe procurement to delivering equipment to the 68th floor of a running hotel.”
The 750-sqm hotel and restaurant was designed by Navigate Design in conjunction with main contractor, Finasi.
Key features include a $60,000 (AED220,000), 4m-long, custom-made Grillworks grill, which is the largest of its kind in the Middle East. Czech Republic-based Preciosa Lighting provided feature luminaries for the development.
“The project completed on time and to the highest of standards, which made it incredibly rewarding,” Hitch concluded.
