In honour of Earth Day 2021, Compass are thrilled to be launching our very own Compass Forests, in collaboration with Treedom!
To start, we have planted 30 geolocated trees including 5 coffee & 5 guava trees in Tanzania; 3 avocado trees in Haiti; 10 cacao trees in Cameroon; 3 tamarillo , 2 passion fruit and 2 markhamia trees in Kenya.
By purchasing these trees, we have financed a farmer to plant a tree. These fantastic farmers will then nurture the trees (sending diary updates) until they are productive. The trees and their fruits belong to the farmers, allowing them to diversify and supplement their income and in some cases to launch micro-entrepreneurship initiatives. And we have not even started going into the immense Co2 impact!
This is the first in a series of initiatives we have underway here at Compass, geared towards creating a more sustainable future and considering our own social responsibility in contributing towards the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set out by the member states of the United Nations, to advance global development, promote human well-being, and protect the environment.
We will be gifting beautiful saplings to 20 of our lucky Compass friends (relating to our 20,000 LinkedIn followers post in March)! Each recipient will be able to follow the life of their tree, receiving updates as to how it grows as well as experience its positive social and environment impacts, whilst supporting local farmers around the world.
Keep up to date with how the communities we have planted in are thriving, how much carbon offsetting our growing forest is helping with, the powers of the trees we have planted as well as other tree-rific Treedom news, by visiting our Compass Forest here.
